International Herald Tribune announces that Bulgaria is the second most threatened by demographic disaster country in the World after Swaziland. The media writes that the population of Bulgaria will decrease with 30 % between the years of 2005 and 2050, and from 7.7 millions now will be 5 millions then.
The only other country in the world that will loose more population in this period is Swaziland, where 38 % of the people have HIV virus. The decreasing population threatens other countries in Europe too, but here the problem is much bigger because of the low life standard.
The media quotes The Bulgarian National Statistic Institute, which announces that the population decrease in Bulgaria has started during the communist years and has forced when the system collapsed in 1989. In the moment there are 1.3 children per woman in the country. For keeping the same population there must be 2.2 children per woman. 800 000 people have left the country between 1989 and 2004, which is about 10 % of the population. The fact that most of them are young and educated people makes the things even worse.
