Tsarevets – moving back to the golden ages

If you want to move back to the years in which Bulgaria has been one of the greatest countries in the world, the best way to do this is to visit the ancient fortress Tsarevets. This is a brilliant piece of history located in the beautiful town of Veliko Tarnovo, the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire.

The main attraction is the Sound and Light audiovisual show carried out in the evening. It uses three lasers, variegated lights, dramatic music and church bells to represent the story of the fall of Tarnovo to the Ottomans, as well as other key moments of the history of Bulgaria. The various show dates at Tsarevets since 1985, when the 800-year anniversary of the Uprising of Asen and Peter was celebrated.

Along with the rich history, Veliko Tarnovo is a modern town giving many opportunities for the tourists: shopping, nightlife, spa, etc. It is located in the middle of Bulgaria on a very communicative place, that crosses the main roads from North to South and from West to East. Nearby are located another interesting places to visit: Arbanassi, Gabrovo, Tryavna, Etara, etc.
